Toxicity? Evidently.
Two weeks ago my
Essentially, it shows that I have extremely high levels of Mercury and Copper in my system, something that seems to be in line with the symptoms that I’m experiencing. Although I admit, I am skeptical, I can’t argue with the results and the vast amount of information that seems to correlate to my condition.
So where does that leave things? For the present it leaves us with a looming cost since this is unlikely to be covered by MSP, and existing degradation and damage of my nervous system, which is irreversible. I suppose it doesn’t change a thing, really.
To be whole, I need a touch from God – that hasn’t changed. And anyways, I continue to pray to know Him closer, to experience His presence and to know His love.
For those of you standing with us, please continue to pray with wisdom. I want to be wise in this time ahead. If God is speaking to you, I would be very keen to hear about it, either as a comment here or an email or whatever.
The idea of this not being ALS is a huge anvil off my heart, and yet my mind can’t quite comprehend what’s happening. I guess it’s because I’m so trained to trust a physician or neurologist – I mean, they know this stuff. In comparison, it makes Naturopathy seem like a game. But this seems to be hard evidence of what my ND has been suggesting this could be. I remain hopeful for total restoration regardless of what the cause is. My God is infinitely capable!

As we've discussed before, doctors only have a very small window of time and resources to actually consider all of the possibilities regarding any diagnosis and prognosis. It is essentially up to the patient to do their own homework and to be proactive.
Stephen...you ARE doing this. And those of us that know Christ have the "Great Physician" looking into our case. But regardless of the result in this life, I'm finding it increasingly important to remember that what exists on this earth is really only a "shell". And whatever happens to us "in the shell" is only a minuscule portion of our true lives. God is working His wonderful work in each of our lives as we live in this "shell".
Some day we'll all be "face to face" with Him, and I for one look forward to that day!

I know this to be true, and yet when I consider that I'm a husband to my lovely wife, a father to Angela and Ian, I can't help but feel that this "shell" is really REALLY important to me.
But your point is well taken.

Praying for the restoration of your nervous system is no greater stretch than praying for relief from ALS. While you consider your medical options, we will pray for the cleansing of heavy metals in your system and that God will regenerate your nervous system.

Stephen, your blogs have encouraged my heart. It is beautiful to see someone who really is willing to count the cost and pray the tough prayers to the end that the LORD receive all the glory, whether by life or by death.

Interestingly, you are the 3rd person to recommend Cylantro - the first was a Doctor that I saw in Victoria some time ago.
But no one has given us a recipe as yet, that one seems to be a decent way to go.

We were shocked to hear of and see your condition on Sunday. However, the news that it may be heavy metals was relief. ... we acknowledge our Creator and always put our lives in His hands. We're praying for an amazing recovery for you and along the path, for peace for you and your family.

Stephen, It certainly won't hurt to try chelation therapy if the naturopath can provide you with some positive outcomes for your time and money.

Power to you Steve, keep digging when the answers from medical science are SO bleak. If the heavy metals ARE causing problems, removing them should halt the progress of the neurological damage. EDTA chelation (given IV) is the best removal method I know of, albeit some risk and costs are involved.
This moves beyond the realm of medicine, but the actual EDTA and IV setup are peanuts compared to the usual charges - it is a money maker for sure... I know of one patient who got the stuff from his doc and avoided the markup...

Hey Stephen,
Good to read your page. It's been WAY too long since we saw each other! ... I was glad to read some of the recommendations here about chelation. You may not know, but my older brother Glenn had ALS. He checked into chelation frequently as it seemed to be the area where there were some results to those who responded to it. He was always a little adverse to any so called 'non medical' approaches and so he didn't really follow up. I say GO FOR IT! Get that metal our of your system ... Heavy Metal! Who needs it! Never liked the music either!

Hi to all who are following Stephen's journey... just to give each of you an update on the work being done on the Host residence.

We are currently renovating where the old kitchen was and the former is becoming the new washroom. We are waiting for the plumber and electrician to finish up the rough ins and then we can drywall, paint, install the tiling and cabinetry. The shower is being made so that its easy access for Stephen, and Jaclyn will get her nice soaker tub ... hey she will need the kewl scented candles... wink wink.
We hope to be completed in a few short weeks... yes ...before Christmas... ( all the plumbers and electricians are too busy)
Anyway we are also recreating the front entryway , adding a new front door and front patio with a kewl place for that morning cup of coffee... (I'm not partial.. Timmy's or Starbucks works for me)
(concrete guys are too busy as well ) so yes, by Christmas the house should be functional again... (Renovators are soo busy and slow) but as most homeowners can attest to... and Stephen is proud to own these three infamous words..... MIGHT AS WELL...we're gettin her done.
