Peace be with you
Well, first and foremost, I hope that this Christmas has found you aware of the wonder of Jesus' commitment to us on this lonely rock. I know when I ponder what it took to become so low from so high, it speaks volumes of God's character - being willing to go to extremes because of His love for us.
So, although the date isn't perfect, I hope you will join me in this wish - Happy Birthday Jesus!
On that note I want to extend my thanks publicly to all of you who take time to read these ramblings. I sometimes don't know what to write, and in truth, words on these pages seem hopelessly inadequate at describing the depths of emotions that we continue to experience. Also thank you for praying with and for us.
The hardest thing for me to express is the gratitude we feel for the tangible support that you all have been pouring out on us.
Jaclyn, my love - this is hardest on you. Over and over I see such strength in you that goes far beyond your frame. As we walk this I am so incredibly thankful for your presence with me. I will always love you.
Ian, my son, if you ever get an internet connection and read this, know that I am so proud of you and love you fiercely. You make me laugh just when I need it the most and my heart is so much more full because of the blessing of being your dad.
Angela, the spark and spirit you have is unquenchable. I love your heart and character - thank you for having the courage to be you. They say a picture is worth a thousand word - well then you grace me with a collage of images every day and I love you for it!
Alvin, my brother, I always knew you were a man of depth and character, but the way you have continued to pour yourself out for us - the sheer effort that you continue to expend on our behalf (the untold hours in the renovation, phoning, arranging, and raising support for the wheelchair, and on and on) ... I'm at a loss for words. I love you and continue to pray for you - that our Daddy would bless you with peace and wisdom, with purpose and vision and with health and abundance.
Paul, Speed and all the gang at Mainland, your gift is truly heartwarming. That you would be willing to do this for us is a testimony to your character. Thank you all. And Paul, the extra gifts are truly appreciated, thank you again.
For those of you who were so thoughtful and generous to purchase the motorized chair, all I can say is "WOW!!" James, Gary and Karin, Gene, Stuart, Pat, Paul, Ernie & Elizabeth, Ken & Tracy, Lindsay & Lindsay, Shawn and Shannon: you all rocked my life with this. What's more, I am aware of some of the struggles in some of your own lives, and this gift in spite of your own circumstances is all the more significant.
Rick and Jim, the house looks beautiful - again that much sweeter because of the circumstances in which you chose to serve us.
All of you at Dunach; Staff, Parents and Students - we stood dumbfounded as we looked at the mountain that you brought and blessed us with. Dunach really is a small school with an incredibly big heart.
Nate, Tim, Laurie and Kelsy - to say that I am honored by your commitment is an understatement. Thank you guys for being my voice and presence, and for doing such a great job.
To my clients and friends: your ongoing support is humbling. I commit to doing whatever I can to ensure that you are taken care of.
Birgitte, Naomi, Mom, Dad, Douglas, Uli, Chris, Arwit, Kevin, Nathan, Henry, Damien, the entire 'leaf brigade', Wes, Bill & Diane and all or you who feed us and look after us, God Bless you!
As I search for answers to deep questions in my soul, these tangible acts of kindness serve as real reminders of the Lord's love for us. Thank you all for being willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus to us.
