Grunt work

Can you believe it’s July already? Where does the time go?

Here is some of what is happening in case you are curious.

We have come to the end of our ongoing and seemingly endless renovation. All that remains is some minor stucco patches and some details inside like painting trim and a few electrical odds and ends. I will be happy to have it finally finished with. 5 years is a very long time to be living in dust and such. My family sacrificed their Father’s Day and worked on my house, painting, applying trim and preparing a feast fit for a king. I am once again humbled by your generosity and goodness to me.

As you may know, the disease has been rather mercilessly destroying my ability to function. I am fortunate to have the resources available to assist me in both mobility and communication. Without these I would be very isolated.

I am typing now with a mouse that I control with my head, using an onscreen keyboard that predicts words that I might want to use. It is pretty slick technology. I have some incredible helpers here from Valley Home Support who are my hands and feet, they are here 4 times a day for a total of 6 hours.

I am basically non-verbal apart from a few words that I am still able to say. It is difficult for Jaclyn too because of the added stress of having to fill in the gaps to care for me. It's a very raw and un-glamorous time for us all and emotions are near the surface and sometimes running very high.

Keeping a positive mindset is definitely a tricky endeavor but with God's help there are still some moments of joy and laughter.

Thank you to all of you who pop in to visit; you’ll never know how significant those visits are. I know how different I appear nowadays, and that it takes more than a little courage to make the trip, but you have blessed me every time in profound ways, giving me courage to endure this present darkness.
